To inspire families to discover their inner-photojournalist...
It might be portraits of Mom during pregnancy, help with technical questions, or being there for the delivery or soon after. The key is to lay the ground work for a life time of photography and through the interaction with the Foundation with local photographers who can help families document life's big moments.
...and when needed connect families with trained photojournalists to make the photos they can't possibly make themselves.
When fate deals a family a bad hand having a relationship with a skilled photographer will be invaluable. Through the Foundation, families can connect with photographers who have been guided as best as we can to be prepare for happy or potentially difficult situations.
If a family hasn't had a chance to start a relationship with a photographer the Foundation will try to connect them with a sensitive documentary photographer on short notice at no charge.
In any delivery situation, most families won't be equipped to make photos effectively, or won't be able to focus on the fleeting events happening around them. A point and shoot or cell phone camera isn't going to cut it in good times or bad. Families shouldn't have to count on the hospital staff to be able to help either. They might only have a Polaroid camera on hand and they have important work to do.
Photography doesn't have to be hard or intimidating. It won't be long before you are happy you thought to make more photographs.
