About 1 Life, 1,000 Words

The inspiration to start 1 Life 1000 Words stems from a birth experience no parent wants to have. The founder, Garrett Ewald, was a photojournalist in a previous life so when he learned he had twins on the way he set out to experiment with lots of different types of photos. When problems with the delivery put the health of the twins in jeopardy, documenting the experience drove home the value of being able to capture the memories with care and compassion that would elude most parents in a similar situation.

In a normal or challenging pregnancy and delivery you can never have too many photos. Not so long ago hospitals would have shielded parents from similar events, and reports are growing of hospitals today barring photography in the most mundane deliveries. It shouldn't be left to chance that the hospital will allow the family to make images to preserve memories.

In 2008 the groundwork was laid for creating the foundation. Now we are working on incorporation, trademark registration, and filing for 501c3 non-profit status.
